KUCHING: Miri FA met expectations to win the SSCFAS Under-20 Grand Finale Football League at the State Stadium in Petra Jaya last weekend.

They defeated Serian FA 53 in a penalty shootout after the teams were tired 1-1 at full-time and 30 minutes of extra time.

Tthe champions coached by Mohd Hakimi Man collected the RM10,000 cash prize while Serian FA brought home RM7,000.

In the final, Serian FA drew first blood when they scored in the 56th minute through Zaifudin Seruji.

Miri FA found the equaliser in the 74th minute through team captain Harith Danielle Abdullah in the 74th minute.

Meanwhile, losing semifinalists Kuching FA and PSSI West Kalimantan (Indonesia) each pocketed RM3,000 as joint third.

Sarawak Sports Corporation CEO Morshidi Fredrick gave away the prizes.

Also present were Sarawak Football Association (FAS) deputy president Mohd Saif Jubaidi and other executive committee members.

The final round of the 2022 SSC/FAS Under-20 Football League which commenced on Nov 26 brought together nine teams playing in a group league format.

Group A comprised Miri FA, Serian FA, PEC Bintulu and Sarikei FA while Group B was made up of Kapit FA, Kuching FA, Limbang FA, PEC Kapit PSSI West Kalimantan from Indonesia.
