Rock The World music festival branded ‘the worst fest ever’ by unhappy concert-goers

KUALA LUMPUR: The highlyanticipated Rock The World 2022 music festival made a comeback on Saturday after a five-year hiatus.

The return of the event however left many festival attendees unsatisfied due to alleged management mishaps.

Many spectators, who attended the festival at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, took to social media to share their complaints about the fullday event, which involved 30 performances. Poor time and sound management as well as lack of coordination were the main complaints that dominated social media. Posting a long list of negative comments about the event, Twitter user @dnlabrr said ticket redemption counters were insufficient which led to long queues.

“The stage management didn’t enforce time limits, whereby early bands were allowed to play overtime. As of 5.30pm, the rundown was delayed by 2.5 hours.”

The concert-goer also posted a list of positive feedback about the venue and the long-returning bands. Another Twitter user, @omawrozduan claimed that the event was in the hands of a “wrong organiser” and labelled it as “the worst fest ever”.

Acknowledging the blunders, the organiser thanked the festival-goers and admitted the shortcomings.

“We will try to improve in the future,” wrote the organiser on Facebook.

The post, however, attracted more complaints from unhappy concert-goers who shared their unpleasant experience.

Skalite Rizal, said the poor sound and time management undermined the good venue.

“Don’t waste time checking sound when you are on the stage.

“This is not the 2000s era, so if you want to test the sound, do it before the show.”

Nasari Yaman commented that he was disappointed because the time slot for the bands playing at night had to be shortened.

Another Facebook user, BUx Bug, said such mishaps aren’t acceptable from an event that has already been around for 20 years.

“There were a lot of shortcomings such as stage time management, security and sound.” Rock The World festival held its inaugural run in 2000 and made a comeback for its 20th anniversary this year after a fiveyear break. — Malay Mail
