APM personnel destroy beehive, catch snake in separate operations

MIRI: Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel here responded to two calls for help yesterday – one to remove a beehive, and the second to catch a snake.

APM Miri officer Frankie John Jawan in a statement said a team of five was despatched to a flower shop in Pujut at 10.10am after receiving a call from a 27year-old male staff who spotted a beehive while cleaning the yard.

“The beehive was found on a tree in the yard. The APM team destroyed it by spraying it with insecticide and setting it on fire,” he said.

The team next headed to a house in Kampung Kuala Baram after a 60-year-old man contacted APM at 10.43am, requesting help to catch a snake.

“The team searched the house compound and found the snake under a tree. It took them about four minutes to capture the reptile, which measured about one metre long, and they later released it back into its habitat,” said Frankie.
