SCC kicks off 2023 with SCC QC Monthly Challenge golf tourney

KUCHING: Nicholas Lau was crowned the Category A nett champion of the SCC QC Monthly Challenge at Samarahan Country Club (SCC) on Thursday.

Playing with a handicap 7, Nicholas carded a three-under par 69 to beat Calvin Soh on count back (OCB).

The Category A gross challenge saw Sulaiman Ibrahim returning a score of three-over par 75 to beat Magit Semong by seven strokes.

Lincoln Leong took the Category B nett title with a eightunder par 64 while Rodzli Yusuf was second with a two-under par 70.

In the Category B gross contest, Wong Hai Kit was the champion with a score of 87, and in second spot was Panther Jap Hor Yu who carded an 88.

James Sinjeng won the Senior nett title after returning an 58 while Sabestian Rengian and Dr Simon Sinang were second and third with 66 and 69 respectively.

Meanwhile, Alice Repet won the Ladies nett title with her score of 89 while Ricky Rui Ribuh bagged the Senior gross title after he hit an 81, followed by Gerald Tan (83) and Herman Bujang (84) in second and third placings respectively.

James Sinjeng also won the SCC Angpau tournament when he scored 50 Stableford points, beating Lincoln Leong (44), Ricky Rui Ribuh (42), Sabestian Rengian (42) and Dr Simon Sinang (39) into second to fifth placings respectively.

Pang Kim Fah was the happiest winner of the day when he walked away with RM1,500 and a set of wedges for hitting a holein-one at Hole 17.

The SCC curtain-raiser attracted 106 participants.

Among those who took part in the competition was SCC patron Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam.
