“With this new service, Firefly is now operating to two destinations in Singapore - Changi and Seletar - where both serve segmented types of customers, aircraft, and services.

“Our service to and from Seletar has been performing well since its launch due to the strategic airport location to serve business travellers. The launch of this route is timely to serve our leisure travellers on jet service and offer new experiences to them,” said MAG chief executive officer Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi in a statement.

He added that the new service will now allow customers from North Sumatera to fly into Singapore via Penang as the airline currently operates jet services from Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport and KUalanamu International Airport.

Adding to this, executive vice president of air hub and cargo development, Changi Airport Group, Lim Ching Kiat, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Firefly’s twice daily jet operations between Changi Airport and Penang.

“With this, there will be a total of 91 weekly services between Singapore and Penang, representing a recovery of over 80 per cent compared to 2019.

“There continues to be strong travel demand between the two countries with Malaysia being Changi’s second largest country market in 2022. We look forward to Firefly connecting Singapore to more points in Malaysia in the future.”
