Melaka state assembly opposition leader respects Sulaiman’s decision to resign

Melaka Legislative Assembly opposition leader Dr Mohd Yadzil Yaakub said he respected the decision of Lendu assemblyman Sulaiman Md Ali to submit his resignation letter as the state Chief Minister.

Mohd Yadzil, who is also the State Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman also extended his highest appreciation to Sulaiman for his services during his tenure.

“We take the stand to not interfere in the affairs of political crisis within Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN).

“PN assemblymen and I will continue to act as a credible opposition. We will continue to fight for the voice of the people and be a good check and balance to the Melaka state government,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He also hoped that the new chief minister will continue to put the people’s agenda first and bring progress to the state.

Rumours about the new Melaka chief minister went viral on social media Wednesday after information about the swearingin ceremony, which is scheduled to be held today.

Among the names mentioned to succeed Sulaiman is Tanjung Bidara assemblyman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, who is also Melaka Umno liaison committee chairman.
