KUCHING: UCSI University Sarawak’s Faculty of Business and Management has held its annual awards ceremony at UCSI Hotel here recently.

The faculty’s 43 Dean’s list recipients were celebrated for their outstanding academic performance and involvement in voluntary work, alongside the presentation of ‘Outstanding Educator and Teaching Excellence Awards’ to UCSI’s academic staff.

The university, in a press statement, said the event also conducted the launching of its newly-included programmes namely the Master of Business Administration (Blue Ocean Strategy) (MBA BOS) and Diploma in Business Management.

MBA BOS, it said, is a one-anda-half year course featuring a Blue Ocean Strategy focus where market differentiation is achieved through value innovation, and which makes competition less relevant.

The Diploma in Business Management, on the other hand, is a two-year course that aims to develop future business professionals with the relevant skills and knowledge in business management.

Ranked in the top one per cent in the QS World University Ranking 2024, UCSI University has now climbed 11 spots in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024, standing at number 61 in Asia.

In the business and management studies field, UCSI University is now ranked in the top 200 in the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2023.

“Our dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and nurturing bright minds has driven us to these prestigious ranks,” said the university’s Dean of Faculty Alexa Loi, who officiated at the event.

“This is a testament not only to our faculty and students but also for our collective pursuit of knowledge, research, and societal impact,” she added.

Meanwhile, a sponsorship totalling RM6,000 were received from the university’s esteemed industry partners namely LONGi Malaysia Sdn Bhd; Sarawak Energy Berhad; Kim Hin Industry Berhad; and Sundrop Fruit Juices Sdn Bhd.

This sponsorship was to benefit the faculty’s six top achievers namely Nur Hidayatul Syaqilla Zulkarnain, Voon Xue Zhi, Aaron Chan Kwok Hui, Wong Man Zhun, Amelda Wong Sie Ling and Natalie Liew Hui Yuen.

Among invited guests were representatives from Chubbs and Chill Sdn Bhd, as well as Romario Ong and Gordon Tan who had sponsored for the Bursa Young Investor Challenge 2023 event which also took place that day.

New intake for the 2024 session is now open for registration.

The faculty currently offers six programmes - Diploma in International Business; Diploma in Accounting; Bachelor of International Business (Honours); Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Commerce; Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Marketing; and Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting and Finance.
