KUCHING: A car was partially destroyed after its engine bay caught fire at Jalan Kampung Haji Baki yesterday morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said members of the public were able to douse the flames prior to the arrival of its personnel.

“Several members of the public had used four portable fire extinguishers to put out the fire.

“Firefighters from the Batu Lintang fire station who were dispatched to the scene carried out checks to ensure the fire would not reignite,” said Bomba.

After ensuring the situation was safe, the firefighters wrapped up the operation and departed back to their station, it added.
