Baleh Football League to be annual sporting event, says rep

KAPIT: The ADUN N64 Baleh Football League will be made an annual sporting event following the tournament from Aug 13 till Dec 3, said Baleh assemblyman Nicholas Kudi Jantai.

Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony for the winners, he said the tournament was initiated by his uncle, the late Tan Sri

Datuk Amar James Masing, who had wanted to raise the standard of football in Kapit.

“I am very happy that it was successfully organised and it will be held annually as a sporting event under my N64 Community Service Centre,” said Nicholas, who also congratulated the winning teams.

Matches were played on weekends, with the venue alternating between Padang Kapit and Padang Song, depending on their availability.

“I hope the teams involved in the competition will continue to improve their standard of play by participating in tournaments outside of Kapit.

“Having followed several of the matches, I can see there are many talented players and, if they are groomed properly, can bring the level to another level,” he added.

The tournament saw Maggie FC emerge champion, winning a cash prize of RM3,500, a trophy and medals.

Placing second was Song Panters FC, followed by 7DSC and Accurate FC.
