‘Mega Pesta Orang Kampung’ organiser targets 30,000 visitors

MIRI: The organiser for the upcoming ‘Mega Pesta Orang Kampung’ festival is targeting some 30,000 visitors for the event.

The festival, scheduled from Nov 1-5 at the Boulevard car park here, offers local entrepreneurs the chance to each extra income.

“There will be a variety of food and drinks sold at this event, and we hope Mirians will come and support local businesses.

“A total of 120 vendors will be taking part in this five-day event,” festival organising chairman Roydy Ismail told a press conference here yesterday.

He added that similar events had been held in Bekenu and Niah, but on a smaller scale.

Also present at the press conference was Cr Tan Lek Jin representing Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting.

Tan congratulated the organiser for choosing to hold the event in Miri, saying it would not only help local businesses but also boost the local tourism scene by drawing visitors to the city.
