Karnival Sukan PSKPP 2023 upholds great sportsmanship, camaraderie

The just-concluded ‘Karnival Sukan PSKPP 2023’ upheld great sportsmanship and spirit of camaraderie among those who took part.

The four-day event, which ended on Friday, took place at Kapit Civic Centre.

Deputy Minister in Premier’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Jefferson Jamit Unyat was present at the closing ceremony, attending it on behalf of Works Minister and Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Accompanying him were Kapit Education officer Gani Egit and his deputies Philip Keling, Kumbong Garit and Kong Kah Sui, as well as Song District Education officer Etam Linggi.

Organised by the Sports, Welfare and Recreations Association of District Education Office (PSKPP) of Kapit, the annual sports carnival held football, futsal, netball, volleyball, badminton, lawn ball, pipe-blowing, lawn tennis, karaoke and dancing competitions.

It involved teachers and clerical staff members under the jurisdiction of Kapit Education Office, who were grouped into four teams: Zone Pelagus, Zone Goram, Zone Baleh and Zone Song.

In his speech, Jamit congratulated the organiser for having run a smooth event.

He also praised the teachers for participating in this sports carnival.

“You, the teachers, are very talented; you don’t only teach in class, but you are also good in sports and games.

“I also observe that this event allows the teachers to be closer with their colleagues and make friends with their counterparts from other schools under the jurisdiction of the Kapit District Education Office,” said the Bukit Goram assemblyman.

Later, Jamit announced allocations of RM15,000 from his Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant and RM20,000 from Nanta, to support PSKPP Kapit in their preparation for the statelevel PSKKK Carnival 2023 to be held in Sibu.

Meanwhile, the champion of ‘Karnival Sukan PSKPP 2023’ was Zone Pelagus, who bagged nine gold, two silver and four bronze medals, and accumulated 72 points.

In second place was Zone Goram with three gold, 10 silver and three bronze medals, and total points of 67 points.

Zone Baleh earned the third spot with three gold, two silver and four bronze medals, and collected 42 points; and the fourth place went to Zone Song with two gold, three silver and six bronze medals, and registered 42 points.
