Bolivia turns over reputed crime boss to Brazil
Bolivia on Wednesday expelled a Brazilian citizen identified as a leader of the First Capital Command (PCC), a crime group with tentacles around the hemisphere, back to his homeland.
The alleged drug capo, Igor Oliveira, was turned over to Brazilian border authorities under heavy security.
Oliveira, 27, known by the nickname "Irak," is believed to lead the PCC in the Brazilian border state of Mato Grosso.
"The operation has begun to transfer Igor Oliveira, member of the #Brazil PCC, to pay the debts he has with the judiciary in his nation," Interior Minister Eduardo del Castillo posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Bolivian security agents arrested Oliveira on Tuesday. After running his false identity document bearing the name Caio Oderilson da Silva Duarte by Brazilian authorities, they confirmed his true identity.
Santa Cruz judge Roberto Arias ordered Oliveira's immediate expulsion to Brazil, citing immigration violations.
"We have information offered to us by Brazil that some 20 people who belonged to Comando Vermelho (rival of the PCC) had been murdered by this person," Santa Cruz police colonel Erick Holguin told the Unitel newscast.
The PCC, based in Sao Paulo, emerged from within Brazil's prisons in the 1990s to become what some authorities say is the largest crime gang in the country with operations in all neighboring nations.
