21 silat exponents to represent Northern Zone at Suksar

Twenty-one silat exponents have been selected to represent the Northern Zone in the Sarawak Games (Suksar) scheduled to take place in Sibu in January next year.

Fifteen athletes are from Miri, three from Lawas, two from Marudi and one from Niah.

The athletes are Syed Zahid Wan Zainal Syed Habeeb, Muhd Azlan Jolihi, Muhammad Fiqri Abdullah, Rusyaidi Fitri Nazir, Muhammad Rohib Hamid, Muhammad Nurdin Abdullah, Abdul Afiq Syamil Abdul Juwani, Awang Mirza Khairuddin Awang Tajudin, Muhd Hasfizhan Abdullah Hassan, Haikal Faizali, Mohammad Nur Azlisham Mohd Ali, Amin Irfan Abdul Rahman, Iman Syakilla Mahdi, Nur’ Azura Azman, Aleeya Farahtasha Anuar Abdullah (all from Miri), Mohammad Iqbal Iqram Ramsah, Muhamad Dinie

Danial Mohd Rafae’eh, Siti Nurzarina Samawi (Lawas), Ummi Mashitah Hassan, Dayang Anisah Aqilah Awang Saiful Safri (Marudi) and Muhammad Adif Najmuddin Arifin (Niah).

The athletes were selected based on their performance at the just concluded Northern Zone Silat Athlete Selection Tournament at Petronas Sports Village on Nov 10.

A total of 60 athletes from Limbang, Lawas, Bintulu, Miri, and Marudi took part in the selection tournament.

Miri team was led by head coach Mohd Adam Abdullah and two assistant coaches Zulaika Razaman and Saidi Abu.

Their training sessions was supervised by Sarawak head coach Fadzil Jemain, who provided valuable assistance in developing training programmes and guidelines.
